Are you a healthcare leader experiencing communication difficulties at work? Are you seeking conflict resolution strategies and approaches to having difficult conversations within your team?

Delivered by SafeCare BC, an introduction to Motivational Interviewing is a free virtual workshop designed for leadership across the healthcare sector.

Motivational interviewing is commonly used in clinical situations as a strengths-based approach to conversations that help draw out people’s motivations and commitment to change. The skills and techniques of motivational interviewing are directly linked with increasing psychological health and safety in the workplace.

According to the National Standard on Psychological Health and Safety, Motivational Interviewing can be used to improve the following psychological health and safety factors: organizational culture, psychological safety, leadership and expectations, engagement, growth and development, involvement, and influence.

In this 1.5 hour interactive session, the following topics will be discussed:

  • An introduction to motivational interviewing
  • Core skills of motivational interviewing
  • The processes of motivational interviewing
  • Addressing moral distress and conflict within teams
  • Leadership communication styles

This virtual workshop is led by Stacey Boon, a Motivational Interviewing Trainer. Stacey is a Certified Canadian Counsellor and organizational coach with 20 years of experience working in healthcare and human services. Her leadership experience includes leading clinical, technical and education development teams and providing education and psychological health and safety leadership for provincial projects and programs.
